Location and Parking
There is on-street parking in the surrounding streets e.g. Byron Street, Hope Road, Bell Street and Mabgate. If you have a disabled person’s parking permit you can park free on these council-run, pay and display bays.
There are no reserved spaces for disabled people in the immediate area.
During the day it can be difficult to find a space on the streets behind LAB, you might have more luck across Regent Street on Gower Street (next to Maplins Electronics) where there is on-street parking. Then you can cross the road via a traffic signal controlled pedestrian crossing, with dropped kerbs and tactile paving.
The nearest on-street spaces, if available, are on Regent Street, outside the East Street Arts building next door to LAB.
In the evening after 6pm there is plenty of parking space, and parking is free for everyone in this area. Shoddy will stay open till 7pm every day.
West Yorkshire Playhouse is a 5 minute walk away, their car park has reserved bays for disabled people. But please note, the route is in theory accessible (step/kerb-free), but part of it (the slip road out of the car park) has no pavement, so proceed with caution if you come from the Playhouse.
The rest of the route takes you under the inner ring road via traffic signal controlled pedestrian crossings, with dropped kerbs and tactile paving.
